Over the past ten years, we have spent countless hours thinking about, testing, unleashing passion and advancing investment dollars toward one goal: assembling the most comprehensive repository of data on the senior golfing experience anywhere. How can we make older golfers become better players? These data, both primary and anecdotal, enable us to paint the most compelling portrait of the older golf dynamic…anywhere. As the ever-cheeky Bob Parsons would now likely say: “PERIOD!”
There is a difference between the golfer and the player, whether it be a 22-year-old +2 looking to move to the professional ranks or the 62-year-old hanging on to his 12 and trying to find his lost ten yards as well as a way back into his pal’s pocket for that crisp $10 bill. Competitive juices flow through the best players (in any sport/endeavor.) We understand. Be the best player you can be!
“Grey Dog Golf™” this very website…is our new platform-base, and the vehicle to deliver these data. The focus is teaching old dogs some new tricks. With the twice-weekly postings here (Tuesday and Friday), we will augment those with our YouTube channel for a visual display. We’ll begin -soon- with a series of events (starting here in New York) that will bring +50-year-old folks into a conversational seminar (indoor) environment at our “home” studio at Konnectgolf (www.konnectgolf.com) where we’ll share our learnings and help these “seasoned” golfers become better players. We don’t worry (so much) about swing mechanics; we aren’t swing teachers. Take lessons from a PGA Professional. Really! We’ll occasionally review equipment (from a truly brand agnostic posture) to see if it has a place in our bags as Grey Dogs, but we leave brand selection up to you. Our focus is revealing compelling, statistically significant “understandings” of how to better approach the game, selecting the correct shot for each situation, and learning how the golf course is designed/built so you’ll play it better.
Take a decision to be a better senior player. We strongly believe in walking, as much as you can. We talk about the importance of “fittings” with equipment, including the grip, your only actual connection to the club. We talk about eyes and feet. Knees, necks, hips and backs too. Wear your sunglasses! (We’ll have one of the nation’s leading ophthalmologists tell you why, and back it up.) Wear the right shoes. Wear the correct polo. Wear a glove. We have a ton of small, easily digestible data points that all add to a magnificent sum. We will make you a better player! Want proof? We’re data-driven, and everything we say will be validated by rigorous testing. We’ll “show our work” as far as the controlled study research we put in to this. It makes us unique. Anecdotes have a place, and you bet we’ll add those to the mix. Our goal is consistent: play YOUR best golf. We’ll show you.
